President McKinley’s Estate
No taint attaches to the $75,000 left by President McKinley and constituting the major part of his estate. But by no other means than that afforded by life insurance would his conscience have permitted him to add this substantial amount to his other modest and honest accumulations. From his salary he could well afford to set aside the amount of his premiums and his wise and loving forethought leaves his widow well provided for. In this, as in all else, the independence of his character, fidelity to his obligations and nicest sense of honor, finds ample expression.
