Memorial Services for President McKinley
The deep respect of the Jewish people for our honored President, who was so recently stricken down amongst us, has been shown by the touching comments made by the Rabbis in their synagogues, in their discourses, and by the heavily draped mourning displayed on the exterior of their houses of worship. These Memorial Services were unusually impressive, coming as they did before the Great Jewish Holiday. In London the Chief Rabbi of the Great Synagogue ordered a special prayer in memory of the late President to be offered on the ensuing Day of Atonement.
