The Martyr’s Word
“His will be done” said he, and fell asleep—
A martyr’s wondrous word for us to keep!“His will be done,” it means for every man
To live the law of right as best he can.It came from him who knew and loved the right
’Twas heard by all the world in sorrow’s night.And now “His will be done” shall fire the heart
Of every man who hears to do his part.And right shall rule within our Nation’s halls,
“His will be done” engraved upon our walls.Then weakness, wailing, anarchy, and night
Shall flee before the martyr’s word of light!“His will be done” said he, and fell asleep—
