Notes [excerpt]
S after the death
of President McKinley, the President of the Executive Committee issued a circular
to all the lodges of the Order throughouf [sic] the world, suggesting that in
some suitable manner the lodges should express their horror at the assassination
of the President of the United States. The suggestion was acted on by all of
the lodges, each one adopting its own method in carrying out the idea.
It is interesting to note that the Jerusalem Lodge,
located at Jerusalem, Palestine, which maintains a library in the Holy City,
has established as a memorial to the Martyr President, a McKinley alcove, for
American literature. In the hospital maintained at Jaffa, Shaar Zion Lodge has
established a McKinley bed.
