     The sad news of the assassination of the late President McKinley has produced a feeling of lively sympathy with the people of the United States, and of horror at the crime, not only in England, but also in all her dependencies; and this is as it should be, for nations of the same race, speaking the same language, and having the same social laws and customs should, in relation to each other at least, be able fully and vividly to recognise the truth of the doctrine of the brotherhood of man.
