“Founders’ Day” was celebrated by the Philadelphians on November 22d. Among the toasts offered was one “to Theodore Roosevelt, by the grace of God President of the United States.” If the God here alluded to really did exist, such toasts would be the worst of blasphemy, for they directly accuse him of murdering the late President McKinley. That part of the toast should have been omitted, or, if strict accuracy were observed, it should have been, “by the grace of a crazy Catholic.”
