Parker the Hero
James B. Parker, the colored hero who saved President McKinley from the third shot of the would be assassin is certainly worthy of the warmest words of praise for such an heroic and brave deed. He has within his own breast a satisfaction and reward, but we can not help from expressing the hope that his meritorious pluck and daring in that eventful hour may gain for him such substantial recognition from some of the Cabinet officers as will secure for him a clerkship in some one of the departments. Such a brave deed on the part of a poor man on behalf of the government is certainly worthy of such recognition.
