McKinley
Our hearts with anguish bleed,
The world is bowed with grief—
Oh horrors! This assassin’s deed
It seems beyond belief.How could he slay the people’s friend?
The good, the brave, the true;
The greatest and the best of men—
With proffered hand of friendship too!Our half mast flags in sorrow wave
There’s grief in every fold.
We sorrow for the good and brave
We mourn with grief untold.In every land, on every sea
The flags of sorrow mourn for thee,
McKinley.
