Buffalo Has Double Honor
President McKinley and Vice-President Roosevelt in City Last Night.
Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt passed through
the city last night, so that for the first time in the history of the city of
Buffalo both the President and the Vice-President were in town at the same time,
President McKinley having arrived earlier in the evening.
Col. Roosevelt was a passenger on the Lake Shore
Limited, and was on his way from Minneapolis to New York. In Minneapolis he
delivered the opening address at the Minnesota State Fair. He stated last night
that he would spend a few days in New York, after which he would go to Washington.
Then he intends taking a short rest at his summer home. He expressed himself
as being glad that the Pan-American is drawing large crowds, and stated that
he hoped to be here sometime in October to see the Exposition thoroughly. The
Vice-President said he was too tired to discuss politics.
