Carnation Day
“Carnation Day” is the newest of the celebrations designed to commemorate and honor a president of the United States. It is the birthday of William McKinley, and was first observed on Jan. 29, 1903, the Carnation League of America having been founded to introduce the custom of wearing a carnation, the favorite flower of the martyr president, on his natal anniversary.
