Prayer for President
Christian Endeavor Society of Swan Street Church Strongly Condemns Act of Assassin.
The Christian Endeavor Society of the Swan Street United Presbyterian Church, Swan and Chicago streets, met last evening in business session, when the following was unanimously acted upon, the vote being taken standing:
“We have heard with consternation and shame the attempted assassination of our President, William McKinley.
“We hereby record our denunciation of anarchical movements, supplemented by yellow journalism, and will now engage in prayer for the President, Mrs. McKinley, under her special trial, and for our country under its special distress.”
While standing, praying was led by pastor, and an immediate adjournment taken.
