The Schools Will Not Close
In answer to the question whether the schools
will be closed on account of the death of President McKinley, Superintendent
Emerson says that in view of the decision of those in charge of the arrangements
to have no public ceremony and to remove the remains from Buffalo on Monday
morning at 7 o’clock, he does not consider it wise to close the schools, and
they will consequently be open as usual on Monday.
The principals and teachers are requested by the
Superintendent to explain the significance of the sad event to their pupils
and to impress upon their minds its obvious lessons.
