Daily News Extra Is the First
News of the President’s Hurts Given to the People Early.
The news that President McKinley was shot was first announced to the people of Chicago through an extra edition of The Daily News, which appeared at 3:50 p. m., a few moments after the attempt to assassinate the chief magistrate was made. It was nearly ten minutes before any other Chicago newspaper published the news.
