“It Is God’s Way; His Will Be Done”

“It is God’s way; his will be done,”
Thus sighed the nation’s chiefest son,
As on his weary couch he lay,
With death no longer held at bay.

“It is God’s way; his will be done,”
Our noble chieftain’s race is run;
His star has set ’mid golden rays,
And millions utter words of praise.

“It is God’s way; his will be done”;
Our President his crown has won;
He served his country long and well,
And now with God has gone to dwell.

“It is God’s way; his will be done”;
May ev’ry mortal ’neath the sun
Own him as ruler, good and wise,
Who reigns on earth and o’er the skies.

Cleveland, O.
