M’Kinley Fired At
Shot Twice by Assassin at Buffalo.
HIS CONDITION SERIOUS
Buffalo, Sept 6—Late this
afternoon President McKinley was shot while attending exercises at the Temple
of Music at the Pan-American Exposition.
President McKinley was approached by an insane
man who leveled a revolver and deliberately fired two shots, both taking effect
in the body.
The confusion that followed was indescribable,
and as the smoke lifted and the president was seen prone on the floor, the thousands
of witnesses were like enraged wild beasts.
The President was fatally injured, one shot
passed through his left breast and another through his abdomen. The man
is under arrest but unidentified.
