M’Kinley’s Abstinence Will Aid His Recovery
     Washington, D. C., Sept. 9.—“President
McKinley’s abstinence from stimulants,” said a member of the official household
Sunday, “will undoubtedly provean [sic] important factor in improving his chances
for recovery. In all my experience with public men and all public entertainments
it has never been my lot to see a more abstemious man[.] This triat [sic] in
his character was brought out prominently in the trips he made South after the
Spanish war, and caused no end of comment.
“Another thing must be taken into consideration,
and that is he has spent a quiet, restful summer at Canton, and consequently
has not been harassed of [sic] worn out by the importunities of spoilsmen or
  the cares of official business.”
