MC KINLEY [sic] THE VICTIM OF AN ASSASSIN AT THE
BUFFALO EXPOSITION.
Two Shots in His Breast Cause His Death Three Hours Later—Assassin
a Polish Anarchist.
Buffalo, N. Y., September 6.—(Special to The
Times via Postal Telegraph)—At 2:20 this afternoon, eastern time, President
McKinley was shot twice in the breast by an assassin, while visiting the exposition
grounds. At first it was thought that the President was killed instantly but
he revived from the first shock and is still alive though liable to die at any
moment.
Buffalo, N. Y., September 6.—(Special to The Times
via Postal Telegraph Co.)—McKinley was shot twice, once in the breast and once
in the abdomen. At 4:28 he was reported dead, but not confirmed.
The assassin was a Polish anarchist who shook
hands with the President with his right hand and shot him with a revolver in
his left.
5:05 o’clock, McKinley is dead.
New York, September 6.—(By Associated Press.)—Pesident
[sic] McKinley was assassinated while entering Music Hall at the Buffalo Exposition.
