It is a matter of National regret that the Marytred [sic] President’s position can not be filled by a more worthy statesman than Roosevelt. His wild-eyed, visionary, radical, flash-in-the-pan ideas are not what the conservative people of the United States want. This is no time or place for a president who thinks he ought to roam the wilds with a belt full of knives and revolvers, seeking whom he may devour. It if [sic] a lesson in the future that should direct more care in the selection of a vice-president.
