A Prayer
[Written for the Journal].
Oh! God to Thee we cry
In our great need.
Keep us through this dark hour.
Sustain us with Thy power.
Do Thou us lead.A nation bowed with grief,
Thy pity lend.
Help us our cross to bear.
Give us a Father’s care
And blessings send.God grant through this dark cloud
May burst eternal sun.
For he whom we did love
Who dwells with Thee above
Hath said, “Thy will be done.”Lewiston, Sept. 19, 1901.
