President Shot at Exposition

BUFFALO, N. Y., Sept. 6—3:45 p. m.—Reports coming from the Exposition grounds are to the effect that President McKinley was shot by a stranger while seeing the [sights]. The assassin has not been captured. Two shots were fired, both bullets taki[n]g effect in the stomach.
Mrs. McKinley was near at the time and great excitement prevails[.] The result of the shooting is not yet k own [sic], although it is said that they [sic] are serious.
