Agitators to Face Responsibility
President McKinley, on his bed of suffering, is doing the greatest thing for his country possible for him to accomplish. His suffering calls the attention of the country to the recent outgrowth of irresponsible agitators with their vaporing, vituperation and class denunciation; it emphasizes them and throws a search light on their objects and the results of their work on the weak and the cranks. When once seen in true light, the country will not bear this sort of agitation. It will demand clean methods and a proper respect for our common citizenship and in discussions between opposing parties and interests. The mode of the agitator will be condemned and he will not be listened to. The stirers up of strife must be driven from the field. McKinley’s suffering is doing this work for the country as it could be done in no other way.
