Associated Press Stops Work First Time in History

     Today between 2:30 and 2:35, Eastern Standard time all work of The Associated Press, the world’s greatest news gathering association, was at a standstill. Not a telegraph instrument ticked, nor was a piece of telegraphic news handled. This order was the first of its kind ever sent out by The Associated Press, as it has been its object to furnish bulletins almost every minute, day time and night, since the first one was sent—that President McKinley was shot at Buffalo by an assassin.
