Casket Is of Carved Red Cedar
Beveled Plate Glass Runs the Full Length of the Top.
Buffalo, N. Y., Sept. 14.—The casket that will
contain the remains of the martyred President is of red cedar, handsomely carved
and covered with the finest black broadcloth. The interior is first lined with
copper, over which is a full tufted satin covering. A French bevel plate glass
runs the full length of the top of the casket.
The outside case is made of red cedar, finely
finished. The corners are capped with polished copper, and the handles are of
the same material. On the top of the case is a copper plate bearing a duplicate
of the inscription on the casket.
