Our President
A nation steeped in sorrow,
Her chief has been betrayed,
We hope that with tomorrow
Will come hope and cheer and aid.Surrounded by his countrymen,
Esteemed, beloved by all;
Thank Heaven! ’twas not through one of them
That he was doomed to fall.Columbia! Her only prayer
That spared his life may be;
And be a blessing everywhere
Through all eternity.
