M’Kinley’s Death

Alas, ’tis true McKinley’s dead.
From anxious mouth to mouth
The melancholy tidings sped,
To east and west and north and south.
Swiftly it circled the whole world ’round,
The news we waited in deepest dread
And the walls of the universe echoed the sound,
He’s dead; he’s dead; he’s dead
But while the sun shines in the sky
His name and fame shall never die.
