Information about image (back side): “The McKinley Mausoleum is
situated on Monument Hill, near McKinley’s old home at Canton, Ohio. It
is of Milford pink granite and bears in the interior this inscription
from the President’s last public address: ‘Let us ever remember that our
interest is in concord, not conflict, and that our real eminence rests
in the victories of peace, not those of war.’ From the entrance to the
grounds to the foot of the mound double driveways 175 ft. in width and
890 ft. long have been constructed. Between the driveways is a lagoon
which is constantly filled with fresh water. Long rows of trees flank
the lagoon and the driveways. It was erected at a cost of $500,000, all
of which was donated by popular subscriptions which came from every part
of the Nation, no amount being over 50 cents, the greatest number of subscriptions
being 10 cents each.”
