The Medical Society of the State of New York [excerpt]
From every standpoint it may be said truthfully that the semi-annual meeting in New York was a thoroughly scientific meeting. The programme was well-arranged, there was an abundance of material of great interest to the profession-at-large, and the attendance was excellent and characterized by a cordial spirit. The discussions were clean-cut and to the point. The attendance was largest on the afternoon of Tuesday, when Dr. Mann presented an abstract of the report on the operation and autopsy in the case of President McKinley. Dr. Mann was peculiarly impressive in his remarks, and one could not fail to observe the earnestness with which he evidently had felt the responsibility of the [620][621] case, the honesty which was evinced in the bulletins issued from time to time by his associates and himself, and their candor in regard to the autopsy.
