McKinley’s Surgeons to Be Paid
Secretary Cortelyou, at the request of President Roosevelt, has taken charge of the settlement of the surgeons’ bills and other expenses incidental to the assassination of President McKinley last September. A lump appropriation of $45,000 to meet all claims was made by Congress, and it has been arranged that Mr. Cortelyou is to make requisitions upon the Treasury for the several amounts, and that these requisitions shall be honored without delay in the Auditor’s office.
