P. M. Rixey, Surgeon General United States Navy,
was in Los Angeles May 8 and 9, with President Roosevelt. He has the rank of
Rear Admiral. It would be well to change the title from Surgeon General to Surgeon
Admiral. That would distinguish his position from that of Surgeon General of
the Army. Surgeon General Rixey visited Mrs. McKinley in April and found her
in excellent health. He said a few days before the assassination, President
McKinley remarked that Mrs. McKinley’s health was the best it had been for 27
years. Dr. Rixey is an able representative of our profession. He graduated at
the University of Virginia in 1873.
We hope the day is not distant when he will be
able to pay Southern California a more leisurely visit.
