The Poets of Printing House Square [excerpt]
Ella Wheeler Wilcox, though she disclaims any connection with the Poets of Printing House Square, must by her poetical essays in the daily press be included. Furthermore, she admits that her work is done on the shortest notice, a prerogative enjoyed by all her compeers. Her well-known poem on the “Death of McKinley,” for instance, was wired for at nine A.M. on the Saturday following the tragedy, and sent in by the same means on the evening of the same day.
