The President’s Tour [excerpt]
Joseph Czolgosz, brother of the man who shot President McKinley, is engaged in business there and is a law-abiding citizen. He asked the Chief of Police (a personal friend) to lock him up, so that he might avoid annoyance. The chief refused to do this, and Czolgosz remained in the Chief’s office while the President was in the city.
