Official Mourning

     Secretary Cortelyou announced [that?] President Roosevelt would not hold any official functions at the White House until the public reception on New Year’s Day. After that date they will take place as formerly. Formal calls of organizations and officials in a body will be deferred until after 30 days from the date of the late President’s death. The flag on the executive mansion will fly at half mast, and mourning papers will be used by the heads of the departments for a period of 30 days.
