John Nowak Protests Against Treatment He Received from Police.

     John Nowak, in whose Broadway hotel Leon Czolgosz boarded for a few days before the attempted assassinations of the President, is indignant at the treatment he has received since that tragedy, and this morning relieved his mind at the expense of the police. Heretofore he has refused to talk to newspaper men.
     “It is a shame,” said he, “that we have been treated as we have. We are not anarchists. Czolgosz comes to my house and rents a room. I am arrested for that. The man who happens to get a room next to him is arrested. He goes into a barber shop to get a shave. The barber gets arrested.
     “Why didn’t the police get the razor he was shaved with? That might be a ‘clue,’ as they say. He bought a bag of peanuts up the street of an Italian. Why don’t they arrest the peanut man?”
