Will Work for M’Kinley Arch

Miss Helen Gould Is Asked to Head the Women’s Committee.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31.—Commissioner H. B. K. McFarland, president of the McKinley National Memorial Arch Association, has received a letter from Miss Helen Gould, in which she accepts an appointment as one of the vice-presidents of the association, and expresses her willingness to undertake any duties the association may see fit to call upon her to perform.
The letter from Miss Gould has been laid before the executive committee, and the members feel very much encouraged by the offer of Miss Gould, and believe that she can render very substantial aid in the work of raising funds to build the arch.
The letter from Miss Gould brought out a suggestion from President MacFarland that a woman’s committee be appointed to work in conjunction with the national association, with Miss Gould as chairwoman. The suggestion was favorably received, and at the next meeting of the executive committee the matter will be taken up formally, and Miss Gould will be asked to accept the place as head of this committee and be in charge of the work for the arch among the women of the country.
