Saw the Dead President

J. W. Hine and Party Were in [the] Line at Buffalo Over Five Hours.

J[.] W. Hine and a party of young people were at Buffalo Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Wishing to see t[h]e fa[c]e of the dead president as the body lay in state in the City hall, they went to the building about noon Sunday.
They stood from 12 until 5 p m outdoors in the rain befor[e] able to get into the building [sic]. After once becoming a part of the crowd they were unable to turn back, but were compelled to carry out their original intention and go with the ma[ss] of people. At 5 o’clock when they left the building there was a proc[ess]ion of people [a mile] long [still waiting] a chance at the entrance.
