Miscellaneous News [excerpt]
An English paper is responsible for a very curous [sic] story about the name of the crazy scapegrace who murdered Mr McKinley. It is to the effect that his name is no more Czolgosz than it is Brown or Robinson. If the legend be true, the Anarchist when asked his name, replied Niemand, which everybody recognised as a mere prevarication, Niemand, of course, simply meaning “nobody” in German. Further pressed, he answered “Czolgosz.” This, the paper says, is really a Polish phrase, meaning “shut your mouth.”
