Ten Years Ago Wednesday

It was just ten years ago Wednesday that President McKinley was assassinated while in Buffalo, N. Y., an event which caused the whole world to mourn and which changed the course of the history of the nation. The President was shot twice by the assassin, Czolgosz while in the Temple of Music at the Pan-American Exposition, one bullet entering his arm, the other perforating his stomach. He survived an operation, but died from his wounds eight days later. His death occured [sic] in the home of John G. Milburn in Buffalo, where Vice-President Roosevelt took the oath of office as president of the United States an hour later. Arrangements are being made to hold the customary memorial exercises next Thursday on the anniversary of Mr. McKinley’s death.
