Veterinarian’s Suicide
Amsterdam, Sept. 17.—James Carnrite, aged 52 years, a veterinary surgeon; committed suicide in this city. He placed a gun in a position so that when he pulled the trigger the contents nearly tore off the top of his head. Carnrite had been despondent for some months and recently returned from a sanitarium. It is believed that the assassination of President McKinley led to his taking his life. He was found standing in front of a business house looking at a draped picture of President McKinley and lamenting the fate of the President. He is survived by his widow, two daughters and one son. Carnrite resided on Florida avenue, Amsterdam, and he is the fourth person who has killed himself on the street within five years.
