Dr. Woolston Greeted on His Anniversary [excerpt]
Dr. Woolston is now 46 years old, having been born in Camden, N. J., on April 7, 1856. He spent five years in the South Jersey Institute and two in the Crozer Seminary. His first church was at South River[,] N. J., where he served five years. The following two years he spent as pastor of the Baptist Church at Lambertville, N. J. He then came to Philadelphia, where he is now starting on his sixteenth year at the East Baptist Church. He was the first Philadelphia pastor to illustrate his sermons with the lantern. From several cities have come tempting offers to the Doctor, but they have all been declined, he preferring to remain with the church to which he is so strongly attached. An offer that he is considering at present comes from a London lecturing manager, who is desirous of having Dr. Woolston give his lecture on the assassination of President McKinley at the time of the coronation of King Edward VII. He was present in the Temple of Music[,] at Buffalo, when the President was shot and his lecture on the subject has drawn large audiences on the several occasions when it was delivered.
