The Negro Ignored

White agents finding that Negroes would not buy a history of President McKinley with the picture of James B. Parker, the Negro who knocked dowd [sic] Czolgosz left out have had the publishing company to insert a picture of Parker with the words; “This is the colored man who it is said prevented the assassin from firing the third shot at the President.” The construction of that sentence implies a doubt, and for that reason, it is said that colored people are refusing to buy the book.
