Pope’s Surgeon’s Opinion
NEW YORK, Sept. 11.—Prof. G. Mazzoni,
the Pope’s surgeon, takes a deep interest in the bulletins on President McKinley’s
condition, says a Rome dispatch to the World. Discussing the latest bulletin,
last night, he said:
“The last bulletin shows two specially favorable
symptoms—moderate respiration and gradual diminution of the pulsations, proving
that things are progressing well in the abdominal cavity.
“I think the bullet will produce inflammation
of the muscular tissues near the spine, which will necessitate surgical intervention.”
