The secret service men who have been employed to travel with the President are an unusually high type. Of course, they have to be men who could travel in such a party and naturally seem to belong to it. One of the secret service agents, S. R. Ireland, who was with Mr. McKinley at Buffalo, is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and was in legal practice in Washington for some years. He might easily pass as an under secretary of some government department.
