“God’s Way”
The above is the title of a sacred song written
by Mr. R. W. Carleton, of this place. It promises to become popular as he has
already received a good many orders for copies. The words were written by Mr.
Carleton at the request of a music publishing house of Chicago, the theme being
prompted by the dying words of the late President McKinley, “’Tis God’s Own
Way.” The words of the song are unusually beautiful, and Mr. Carleton has received
many compliments from friends. The music is in the same sympathetic strain as
the words, and those who have heard it are enthusiastic in their praise.
The editor of The Sentinel feels honored in having
been asked to sing it at the Methodist church last Sunday morning—the first
time it has ever been sang [sic] in public. The song will be placed on sale
in a few days.
