Bay Shore [excerpt]

     Two Parkers, “Painless Parker” of Brooklyn, and “Big Jim” Parker, who heroically captured the assassin of President McKinley, were in Bay Shore last week for the entertainment of the people. The former’s company held forth in a tent on Fourth avenue [sic] and the latter entertained a large company in the A. M. E. Church on Thursday evening. While he disclaims all pretensions to oratory, his simple story of that tragic event in America’s history held his audience spell bound [sic] from start to finish.
