Sent to Blackwell’s Island for Making Sneering Remark.

NEW YORK, Sept. 18.—As Magistrate Cornell was leaving the Essex Market Police Court to-day a man spoke sneeringly of a mourning band which the magistrate wore in memory of President McKinley. The magistrate at once arrested the man, who said he was William Davis, a shoemaker of Troy, N. Y. Magistrate Cornell sentenced him to Blackwell’s Island for two months.
