Local Mention
[excerpt]

Jas. B. Parker, the negro, who seized Czolgosz, the assassin of President Wm. McKinley, and prevented the firing of a third shot, spent several days of last week in the city. He gave two lectures—Wednesday night at the Odd Fellows’ Hall and and Friday night at the A. M. E. Church. Parker is a large and muscular looking negro. He was a hero among the negroes.
