[untitled]
The colored man, James Parker, who it is now admitted probably saved the life of President McKinley, by preventing the assassin Czolgosz from firing a third shot, is naturally attracting much attention throughout the country, and a number of ill-advised schemes are set on foot to promptly recognize his quick and brave act in striking down the assassin. Little is known of Parker’s attainments educationally, or otherwise. It will be entirely safe to leave it to President McKinley, after he recovers, to manifest his appreciation and gratitude. He will not forget James Parker, and will be certain to do the proper thing in the best possible way.
