Vicinity Items [excerpt]
Mrs. Robert O. Bascom, of Fort Edward, who has returned from the Pan American, was on the grounds Friday afternoon when the attempted assassination of President McKinley took place. Mrs. Bascom had started for the Temple of Music, where the shooting occurred. A few minutes later she saw the officers take the anarchist away and afterwards saw the president when he was brought out on a cot and carried to the hospital. The excitement, she said, was intense.
