Chips [excerpt]

—ON THE MONUMENT COMMITTEE.—Among the committeemen having in charge the proposed monument in San Francisco to the late President McKinley are Wm. Greer Harrison of the Thames & Mersey and Rolla V. Watt of the Royal and Queen.

—THE insurance clerks of San Francisco, at a recent meeting, denounced a local yellow journal for “horribly maligning and caricaturing” the late President McKinley, and for the anarchistic spirit which that mendacious sheet exhibits. Then they resolved to cease patronizing all places subscribing for or keeping it.
