The Saunterer [excerpt]

     “The EXPRESS poet has been unable to find a word which rhymes with Czolgosz.”—Tuesday’s EXPRESS. (Note: The correct pronunciation of Czolgosz is as if the word were spelled “Shollgosch.”

An anarchist fellow named Czolgosz
Said American Freedom was all bosh.
     Emma Goldman—he heard her
     Teach doctrines of murder
Till she warped his weak mind with her “tall josh.”

Then over the soul of this Czolgosz,
Did a hatred, as bitter as gall, rush;
     And the deed he did for her
     Fill the nation with horror,—
Did the Nation’s chief home neath a pall crush.

The stain from our land, of this Czolgosz,
The Nation stands pledged to, this fall, wash.
     Since this country don’t suit him,
     We’ll electrocute him—
It may some of the anarchist gall quash.

     [Six months in jail would be little enough punishment for the above.—ED.]
